Den där fredagen, 17:e november 1995, när vi vaknade upp och allt var vitt, vitt och åter vitt så långt ögat kunde se. I Linköping hade det snöat hela natten och fortsatte nästan hela fredagen. Minns ni? Under söndagens vandring i Gusum passerade vi ett område med mossa där känslan var åt snöhållet för det var så stora vita områden alldeles fulla med mossa. Termometern visade på strax över 10 grader denna novemberdag, så långt från novemberstorm och snö man kan komma. Någon av tv-meteorologerna lär ha sagt gråvädersmys som ett alternativ till gråmulen och visst känns väl det som ett trevligt sätt att beskriva en grå novemberdag på?

Runt Valdemarsvik finns det mycket Östgötaled att ta sig an. Vi började som sagt med Gusum. Det är spännande att komma till nya platser, tänk så många nya platser vi hela tiden får se. När vi parkerat den ena bilen vid dagens mål och hoppade in i den andra så var vi tacksamma för den fina funktionen på Östgötaledskartan där det går att klicka på ”Kopiera kartposition”. In med resultatet i Google Maps och sen blev vi guidade hela vägen fram. De grusvägarna som tog oss till starten skulle vi aldrig ha åkt på annars, oftast passerar vi igenom väldigt vackra omgivningar.

Väl framme var det dags att dra på sig vandringskängorna och ta på ryggorna. Vi hann nog gå flera minuter innan vi bestämde oss för kaffepaus i ett vindskydd nära sjön Yxningen. Kul att få se sjöarna i verkligheten – på bl a Universitetssjukhuset finns många grupprum och konferensrum döpta efter sjöarna runt om i Östergötland.

Östgötaleden – här finns många valmöjligheter. Där bakom kullen ligger sjön Yxningen.

Kaffet smakade gott och gav oss energi för att ge oss iväg på dagens vandring. Det stod något om 11 km till Gusum, lät helt ok, men vanligen visar det sig att vi får lägga till några kilometer till det som står. Så även denna söndag, 15 km blev det innan vi var åter vid bilen.

Omgivningarna hann bjuda på stor variation under vår vandring. Allt från grönmossig och mysig skog, de stora områdena som istället var alldeles vita av mossa till en skog som var så tät att det knappt fanns en stig att ta sig fram på.

Det som dock händer under en lång vandring så här års, är att det börjar skymma tidigt och sen blir det mörkt och till sist nästan becksvart. Tur att vi nu förstått att pannlampor alltid ska ingå i packningen.

En lunchpaus med soppa värmd på gasköket ingick också. Tänkt så gott allt smakar ute i friska luften.

Måndagen hade vi nog båda lite kämpigt med att ta oss ur våra sängar. Mina ben var i alla fall ganska stumma och träningsvärken ett faktum. Men om några dagar så är det glömt och då är vi redo igen!

Turen gick från Fallingebergs vindskydd till Yxningens camping.

Det är något fridfullt och vackert över alla grusvägar som vi ofta får vandra en bit på.
